
Robert T. Fraley, Monsanto’s executive vice-president and chief technology officer, won the big award yesterday, along with scientists Marc Van Montague and Mary-Dell Chilton. They received the honor for inserting foreign genes into the DNA of plants. It’s no secret that the World Food Prize foundation is biased toward industrialized farming and bioengineered food: Monsanto is one of the award’s biggest donors. [Earlier, NYT]
