If you pass through the Ann Arbor area and don’t hit Zingerman’s to stock up on a few things, well, you’re a danged fool. The multi-store complex has everything from great cheeses and charcuterie to its own bakehouse to a sitdown deli, and is a big player in supporting regional midwest artisan foods. And now at least some parts of Zingerman’s are getting a Chicago outlet: Plum Market, a “natural, organic, local and specialty grocer” in Old Town, will carry a variety of Zingerman’s goods including traditional breads and pastries from Zingerman’s Bakehouse, fresh, soft-ripened and raw cheeses such as cream cheese from Zingerman’s Creamery, gelato, and candy. The store, at 1233 N. Wells, is set to open June 13.
