The dream of a 4:00 A.M. last call in California may have been crushed last month by our state senators. But one independent city in L.A. is embracing some sort of attempt to make nightlife and wanton inebriation go a little smoother. According to LAist, West Hollywood is hoping to fund an “entertainment shuttle” that will ferry revelers along a fifteen-minute route tracing Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny and Fairfax on Friday and Saturday nights. Running from 8:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M., the idea has a scheduled test run starting July 1 and ending in December, with bids currently being accepted for the $93,000-$110,000 project.

Such a party-bus could certainly have a positive impact on increasing attendance for West Hollywood’s popular night-life scene and spiking profits at restaurants, while paving the way for similar, and direly needed, public transportation in the city’s nightlife hubs.

The real challenge here? Finding drivers with the nerves to put up with Angelenos who are unwilling to go straight home when the 2:00 A.M. bell for “last call” starts ringing.
