It seems just like yesterday when everyone was on the hunt for mint juleps but but’s now Friday (way past noon), which means it’s perfectly acceptable to start thinking about Sunday’s Cinco de Mayo festivities instead of only sending emails that end with “TGIF”. The following seven bar, restaurants, and one pool, should prevent you from regretting everything Sunday while shamefully walking to the office Monday morning. Just remember, Californians celebrate Cinco de Mayo – a US holiday – harder than anywhere else in America. Do your part.

Hollywood: Tropicana Pool Bar at Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is offering drink specials on the Peligroso margies and shots of their Cinnamon tequila during its “Cinnco De Mayo” pool party from 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Caveat emptor: it may rain on Sunday. 7000 Hollywood Blv (323) 466-7000

The Mission Cantina is throwing back-to-back parties from Noon to 2:00 A.M. Empire builder and building restorer George Abou-Daoud is one of the most respectable guys in the neighborhood which means you can consume large amounts of pink margaritas without losing your bro badge. 5946 W Sunset Blvd (323) 469-3130

Downtown: Villains Tavern is offering $4 Tequila shots, $8 fresh agave Margaritas, and $10 Beer taco, ceviche, burrito combos while the sister bar One Eyed Gypsy will serve $8 fresh Agave Margarita during Alex Reznik’s kitchen take-over. Villains Tavern: 1356 Palmetto St (213) 613-0766 One Eyed Gypsy: 901 E 1st St (213) 625-1435

Highland Park: La Cuevita is offering $5 Margarita’s, $5 Dos Equis drafts with tequila shot all night. While Highland Park may not get the respect it deserves, everyone should feel proud of drunking neon green cocktails next to a mezcal wall. 5922 N Figueroa St 90042 (323) 255-6871

Rancho Palos Verdes: Is there anything classier than drinking tequila cocktails while simultaneously ingesting Chef Vaughan’s tacos and looking deeply into Pacific Ocean? Find out at Nelson’s in the Terranea Resort. Saturday, May 4th, 5:00. - 9:00 P.M., Sunday, May 5th, 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. 6610 Palos Verdes Drive South (310) 265-2836

Westchester: While Cinco may not be hip just yet, it’s difficult to think of any other place more ironically hip for a Cinco de Mayo celebration than at a restaurant called “Cinco”. May 5, 1:00 P.M. til the barbacoa runs out. Tommy’s Margarita of agave, lime, Jimador, cucumber and line, is $5. 7241 West Manchester Ave,.(310) 910-0895
