Sure, you can gorge on oily chips and watery, sneeze-guarded salsa this Sunday to celebrate Cinco de Drinko, or you can consider an upgrade by dining with chef Adrien Nieto at This Is Not a Pop-Up this week. Cooking in Hollywood from this Thursday night through Sunday, Nieto is a Ventura local more recognizable for his near win on Masterchef than his consulting work at the wonderful Jolly Oyster, which serves Baja-farmed bi-valves on Ventura State Beach. This week, Nieto is serving a five-course Baja-inspired menu priced at $50 per person. Dishes include a sea scallop ceviche with jicama and wild hominy, a saffron crab tostada with grapefruit and avocado, and tequila-spiked churros with chocolate, coffee, and tangerine for dessert, along with a couple of supplements that include his briny friends from the sea served with seasonal sauces and chorizo. Check out Nieto’s full menu below and find reservations online.
