Fracking — the controversial gas-drilling technique that opponents say contaminates nearby groundwater but advocates say is totally fine everyone just chill out okay? — is in the news again today. As legislators weigh the pros and cons of the potentially harmful practice, Mario Batali and Bill Telepan co-pen an op-ed column in today’s Daily News. They’re against it, of course, citing several instances of fracking-related cattle issues and the letter sent to Governor Cuomo earlier this year. They write, “Those of us who believe that the risks are not worth the much-hyped economic benefits must speak loudly, because we’ll never get back what we lose.” [NYDN]
