The community and educational arm of Bi-Rite, 18 Reasons, is merging with similar organization Three Squares, to become one entity under the 18 Reasons name, headed by Three Squares founder Sarah Nelson. As they announce in a release, the new org will “merge 18 Reasons’ existing cooking, gardening and food policy education programming with Three Squares’ nutrition and cooking classes in low-income communities to create a unique model to engage eaters, cooks and gardeners of all ages and backgrounds across the Bay Area.” The new organization, therefore, will bring together the more Mission-based, adult education and social aspects of 18 Reasons with more of a thrust toward social change and nutrition education for disadvantaged families. They’re hosting an 18th Happy Hour at the 18th Street storefront on Thursday to celebrate. Read the full release here.
