Cheesy Anthems

Others sing in the shower, but Stinky Brooklyn co-owner Patrick Watson, who happens to be a trained opera singer in addition to someone who knows a lot about cheese, sings in the store. (He’s a tenor with a voice as “rich as a triple-cream Brillat-Savarin,” naturally.) The Carroll Gardens shop is the Barclays Center’s cheese supplier, so one day Watson asked who handled the national anthem bookings, one thing led to another, and tonight he’ll sing in front of thousands of spectators at the Nets game. Watson hasn’t sung publicly since 2006, but he doesn’t seem too nerve-racked; you can catch a brie-and-specialty-vinegar-themed warmup here. [City Room/NYT]
