The other week we mentioned the impending opening of the new Exploratorium on Pier 15, and with it the museum coffee concession and restaurant being overseen by Coco500 chef Loretta Keller. The big public opening is next week, April 17, and today via SFist we see the first preview photos of the space. As they report, the restaurant is “cafeteria-style,” and there are some nice views, and as noted earlier, the raw bar portion of the menu is being helmed by renowned local sushi master Sachio Kojima.

As you can see in the photos, the glass-topped raw bar, designed by architect Olle Lundberg, features “dancing” dry ice creating patterns of fog underneath, in tribute to the often foggy bay outside.

Keller is overseeing the museum cafe, not pictured here, dubbed The Seismic Joint, which will feature soups, salads, to-go sandwiches, and coffee.
