Co-owner Julian Brizzi of Boerum Hill’s stellar Rucola sends word that the restaurant will be closed today so its workers can get a few extra hours of sleep and later meet up for a small staff celebration tonight. Because he’s a civic-minded restaurateur, however, and likes to give back, Brizzi also says that team Rucola is at this moment gathering wild onions at its remote and “secret ramp foraging location.” The staff will leave a limited supply of ramps by the bunch outside the restaurant at 6 p.m. sharp — first come, first serve. You may not be able to get Carnaroli-crusted skate with garlic-nettle purée and chiles tonight, but at least you’ll have ramps. [Earlier]
