In its latest issue now on store shelves, Los Angeles magazine puts the same laser-like focus to the city’s sushi scene as it has in years past for its features on Mexican food and locavore eating that caught the attention of the James Beard judges. The new issue includes a “Top 15” list of stellar itamae-controlled counters, a response to the “Jiro Effect,” instructions on “How To Not Be a Tool at The Sushi Bar,” Patrick Kuh’s “Ode to The California Roll,” an inspiring motivational essay by Niki Nakayama, and a typically contradictory protest against the counter-side experience by Joel Stein. All this week, the publication’s Digest blog will also be dipping into sushi stories, with one of the first featuring sustainable shopping tips from David LeFevre of M.B. Post. [L.A. Mag/Digest]
