It looks like it’s deja vu all over again at Le Bec Fin. The restaurant, whose ride took a bumpy turn recently when chef Walter Abrams was squeezed out, announced this week that it will begin offering an a la carte option on Tuesday, April 9. This mirrors the move former owner Georges Perrier played back in 2008, when he forfeited his Michelin star status Mobil Travel Guide ranking and adopted an a la carte approach in effort to relax the stuffy vibe, and attract a younger clientele. In hindsight, that was the point at which the iconic dining institution really started slipping. It was followed by forays into “Le Burger” and easing the dress code to allow jeans and sneakers in the dining room. And, of course we all know how that worked out. Here’s hoping new owner Nicolas Fanucci and his crew can keep history from repeating itself. [Le Bec Fin/Facebook]
