Opening Again

La Goulue Is Reopening Uptown

Welcome back.

At its peak, the Upper East Side* brasserie served Jackie Kennedy and Catherine Deneuve. But the uppity restaurant closed in 2009 after 37 years in business because of lease problems. Now La Goulue is set to reopen just four blocks away from its original location on East 61st Street. Back in 2009, owner Jean Denoyer said he was “aggressively looking for a new spot” and refused to hold a good-bye party, so hats off to him for fighting to continue the tradition of vodka martinis and overpriced salads.
