There are those of you for whom sriracha just doesn’t cut it for spicing up your scrambled eggs, pizza, or whathaveyou. And now to get your palate-blowing habanero fix you can hop over to Berkeley to Hot Heat Sauce Shop (1922B Martin Luther King Jr. Way), which had its grand opening Saturday. As Berkeleyside reports, it’s the project of a couple of youngsters, Dylan Keenen and girlfriend Becky Gibbons, who thought the East Bay needed a hot sauce specialty shop, and they carry hundreds of varieties, organized by chile pepper, including local hot sauces like Oakland-based Pretty Dog Hot Sauce and Youk’s Hot Sauce, made by Scott Youkilis at Maverick and Hi-Lo Barbecue. Also: You can opt to enroll in the Hot Sauce of the Month Club, which will run you $80 for six months. [Berkeleyside]
