Five Years On, Grindhaus Targets a Summer Opening in Red Hook

Red Hook resident Erin Norris first told us in 2008 that she was opening a sausage and beer garden called Grindhaus on Van Brunt Street. Her plan was to train in charcuterie at Ssäm Bar during the restaurant’s build-out, and it even made New York’s fall 2009 preview. Despite the fleeting appearance of some artisanal corn dogs in 2010, Grindhaus never got off the ground, or on its grind, really, and then Hurricane Sandy pretty much devastated the under-construction restaurant and every last piece of its equipment last fall. But Norris is back and more determined than ever, and basically explains in this adorable Kickstarter video ahead that she’s been loving Grindhaus too long to stop now. We believe her, as does Aaron Lefkove of Littleneck, who gets into testimonial mode here. She’s looking to raise $17,000, and there are many perks to be had; all the details you need to help make this happen are straight ahead. Let’s get this sausage party started!
