Whoa! What’s this? Georges Perrier’s hanging it up for good? According to multiple sources, the Le Bec Fin founder, and the chef most responsible for putting Philly’s dining rooms in the national spotlight, has pulled out completely from Georges’, the self-titled suburban restaurant he opened in Wayne’s Eagle Village Shops back in 2001. This follows his abrupt exit last week from Art of Bread, the cafe and wholesale bakery he opened in Narberth in 2011. And the big sell-off last year that put former French Laundry bossman Nicolas Fanucci in charge at Le Bec. Foobooz reports Perrier gave up control of the operation, leaving it in the hands of chef David John Murray, and GM Aaron Kavulich. The Insider also chimes in on the matter, floating the idea that the Main Line restaurant’s backers, fed up with limited returns on investment, “asked him to step aside.” Ouch! How the mighty have fallen. [Foobooz; Insider; Earlier]
