Free-food alert: Chop’t is handing out healthy lunches today at its newly opened (eleventh!) location at 11 West 42nd Street, which is directly across from Bryant Park. The leafy-green giveaway is part of opening-day employee training, a tradition that began back when Chop’t first put down roots in Union Square, in June of 2001. Stop by anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., but preferably on the earlier side, because the free salad apparently flies out the door. Customers are encouraged to make a donation to the nonprofit Wellness in the Schools before absconding with their daily dose of veggies. [Chop’t/Twitter]
