Surprise: After ten years in its posh uptown digs, the straightforward and not-so-secret hamburger shop tucked behind velveteen drapery at the Parker Meridien is actually in expansion mode; it will open its second New York location today, in Greenwich Village at 33 West 8th Street, former home of the short-lived Alma 33 and Elettaria. Reps tell Grub Street the space has retained the open kitchen of its predecessors, but otherwise has been given a makeover that includes vintage posters, vintage mirrors, wraparound vinyl booths, and a big old neon salvaged from a Bowery warehouse. Meat for the burgers in ground in house; check out the entire menu here. [Off the Menu/NYT]
