Today, the swanky Perry Street restaurant and wine bar resumed service after five dark days. The Department of Health closed Aria on Thursday after finding mice and live roaches during an inspection. Bare hand contact with food and a lack of protection from contamination were also among the restaurant’s six sanitary violations, which totaled at 52 points. Owner Tanya Hira told DNAinfo that her business lost an estimated $10,000 each day it was closed — that’s a $50,000 loss. She attested that the adjacent construction projects caused the vermin, and that the closing was out of her control. Aria’s now open for lunch as usual, but when we reached out to the restaurant, no one there wanted to speak about the damaging violations. [DNAinfo]
