Pennsport’s Ugly American, the not-so-ugly trailblazing gastropub that brought the tastes of upstate New York to Hoagietown in the form of beef-on-weck, and garbage plates, is calling it quits. Zagat reports that its last night will be Sunday, March 3. After that, it goes dark for good. Owner Kevin Kelly says that he’s run his course with the eight-year-old bar and restaurant. After closing up shop for good, he will retain ownership of the bricks. But he hopes to lure another operator to step in with a new concept. [Zagat]
