The Oakland dining boom is not slowing down, kids. Chris Pastena’s latest project, after the recently opened Lungomare, has set an opening date one month from now. It’s called Tribune Tavern, and it’s in the base of the iconic Tribune Tower building in the heart of downtown Oakland. We first heard news of it back in September, and as Eater reports, the plan is to be open on April 10. The space turns out to have a whopping 150 seats. And the menu covers traditional English tavern fare, like Welsh rarebit, shepherd’s pie, and pork trotters, bringing in some French bistro fare as well, like cassoulet. And chef Huw Thornton, who’s worked at SPQR, A16, and the short-lived Locanda Da Eva, is making his own charcuterie, cheese, and bread. Bonus: Linden Street Brewery is doing a few exclusive cask beers for the place too. Stay tuned for more as the opening approaches. [Eater]
