A few weeks ago, someone on LTHForum mentioned that the workers at a construction site on North Ave., a vintage chop shop building a couple of doors east of The Trenchermen, had said that a deli and butcher shop was moving into the space. That seemed improbable for such a large space and prime location (with, however, no in and out parking to speak of for shoppers). Two years ago, the space was set to become a music venue, but we hadn’t heard anything about that in a long time and assumed that concept was dead. Well, turns out everybody was right all along, sort of: DNA Info reports that the music venue is materializing at long last, and so is the deli (though not butcher shop), as the grab-a-bite-before-the-show end of the same business, which will also include a bar. It’s all called Chicago Chop Shop, with a 5000-square foot performance space in back. There are no details yet as to opening date, which surely won’t be before summer. [DNA Info]
