In Coca-Cola’s latest attempt to position itself as an anti-obesity ally, the company is replacing Sprite in the United Kingdom with a version that uses stevia, a non-caloric sweetener. But the problem with stevia is that it has a gross, bitter aftertaste. This isn’t just an issue for the folks across the pond; a Coca-Cola spokeswoman said the company is exploring the idea of bringing stevia-sweetened Sprite to America. Ah! We suggest you stock up on jumbo-size bottles of Sprite before they go extinct and end up getting sold on the black market, like an addictive drug. Which is essentially what soda is.
