Renovations and New Chef Coming to Pub & Kitchen; 10 Arts Overhauls Menu and Concept

As mentioned here earlier in the run-up to Fitler Dining Room’s opening, Dan Clark and Ed Hackett are getting ready to shut down Pub & Kitchen, their popular spot just south of Rittenhouse. It will go dark on April 1. But fear not, the closing is only temporary. After renovations are complete, it will reopen on April 15 with floors and walls refinished, new lights, new furniture and a new chef, according to rep for the restaurant. Eli Collins, who served in the trenches at Supper and Gayle here in Philly, as well as DBDG in New York, is moving in to fill the void left by outgoing chef, Jonathan Adams.

Early word is, the menu will remain mostly the same. The custom LaFrieda burger blend is going to replaced with a house-ground patty, and new dishes like housemade sausages, and a riff on the classic vitello tonnato, with a black olive tapenade poached veal leg, served chilled over a smoked egg salad are a couple of the examples of what’s in store.

Some big changes are also in the works over at 10 Arts, too. In the post Eric Ripert iteration of the restaurant, the dining room area — to the south, along Chestnut Strret — is now being reserved for breakfast and private events, and the space formerly known as the lounge will now serve as the dining room. In terms of food, Chef Nathan Volz is tightening things up, consolidating it into one menu, and steering it toward a selection of smaller and medium sized plates. Larger entrees will still be offered, and popular items like the coveted warm soft pretzels will continue to be available.
