Looks like New Yorkers won’t get to experience the “edgy elegance” of Concrete Blonde, the 84-seat restaurant that Jen Carroll was working on opening in the West Village. In recent weeks, rumors have suggested it wasn’t happening, but today we get confirmation from Carroll herself.

The Top Chef star tells Grub Street that she and her partner have parted ways with the project’s backers, citing financial reasons for the about-face. This is the second time she’s aborted mission on her small plates, seafood concept.

Though setback, she says the project isn’t dead, and that she’s still on the hunt for a location. Her hometown is her first choice, but she hasn’t completely ruled out New York just yet. “I’m really hoping to stay in Philly,” she told us. “But we will see what the future holds.”
