Last we heard, the new Magnolia Brewery and restaurant in Dogpatch was due to open around May or June, and the ETA remains early summer. The facility at 2505 Third Street (at 22nd) is under construction, and as owner and brewmaster Dave McLean discusses in this new video, the idea was really to increase the capacity of his fifteen-year-old basement brewing operation in the Haight, and to bring something new to this burgeoning neighborhood. “What’s happened in the last fifteen years is amazing,” McLean says, referring to the incredibly diverse craft beer boom across the country. And he says, “The Dogpatch was probably the only place in San Francisco that we could have done what we want to do.”

In addition to a taproom, there will be a barbecue component headed up by Namu Gaji chef Dennis Lee, so that’s exciting too. Stay tuned for a more exact ETA and further details in the coming months.
