Katsuya by Starck is closing tonight in Laguna Beach, shuttering less than two years after the sushi restaurant’s June 2011 opening in the former home of Hush. Whether this signals a slight ripple in the aggressive expansion of SBE’s chef-branded restaurant business or signs of a downturn in Laguna Beach’s fortunes is currently anyone’s guess, as SBE plans to focus its energies on a local location of Umami Burger.
