Yesterday Cleetus Friedman was one of 17 finalists for the job of host of Check, Please! But yesterday, it turns out, the former owner of City Provisions was also something else: the new chef of The Fountainhead in Ravenswood/Lincoln Square. The Fountainhead is a very good beer bar that, though perfectly pleasant as a place to eat, has never lived up to the food reputation of other gastropubby places that opened around the same time, like Longman & Eagle (which it’s laid out almost identically to) or Owen & Engine. Friedman, who is also a fan of beer, having collaborated with local brewers in the past, looks to change that by bringing over some of his City Provisions favorites (turkey sandwich for sure). And if he also wins a certain TV host position? Well, we know what the TV will be tuned to on Friday nights. [TOC]
