Restaurant-Music Venue 27 Live Coming To Evanston

Apparently the space has already had some musical events since New Year’s, but the big opening will be in March for 27 Live, a new 300-seat performance space, bar and restaurant opening in Evanston from John Tasiopolous (Old Neighborhood Grill) and chef Scott Donaldson (May Street Market, Spiaggia). The space, at 1012-14 Church Street, which was formerly Asado Steak House, will serve farm-to-table comfort food with housemade pastas, house-ground burgers and more; on the drink side they’ll showcase a lot of local spirits and brews from the likes of F.E.W., Koval, Revolution Brewing and Goose Island. The main stage plans to have mostly rock music up to four nights a week, with blues and acoustic performers in the lounge. The name refers to the allegedly cursed age when rock and roll performers like Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all died.
