We neglected to mention that today is Fat Tuesday. And though we aren’t in New Orleans, S.F. is home to several New Orleans-themed restaurants and venues that take this holiday very seriously. See our roundup of events below.

Boxing Room: Chef Justin Simoneaux is doing a cheap and cheery crawfish boil for the occasion. $15 gets you a pound of crawfish as well as boiled corn, potatoes, mushrooms, sausage, and dipping sauce. There’ll be live New Orleans jazz as well, from 5:30 to 11 p.m.

The Chapel: The Mission’s newest music venue, the West Coast Home of Preservation Hall Jazz Band, is hosting a free concert tonight at 8 p.m. featuring Ralph Carney’s Serious Jazz Project and the Cottontails.

Fillmore Street: In the Fillmore, multiple restaurants are participating in a neighborhood-wide celebration. There’s a party at Fillmore Plaza, 1475 Fillmore, from 5 to 7 p.m. $35 individual tickets and $50 tickets for couples will get you a wristband good for special promotions at participating restaurants. Hayes Valley: In addition to the menu at Boxing Room, there’s a parade starting at Place Pigalle at 5:30 p.m., and a show later on at Brick and Mortar. The Jazz Mafia will lead a second line from Hayes Valley to the Mission, where they’ll be performing. [Hayeswire]

Scala’s: Jen Biesty’s Union Square restaurant is doing a Mardi Gras menu, available only tonight, for $45.

Town Hall: As per usual, Town Hall is doing their annual Fat Tuesday bash, which has a steep admission charge: $75 at the door. The busy party features Hurricanes, fried chicken, jambalaya, music, and more.
