Once multiple venues starting tripping over their cow-heeled shoes trying to be like The Edison in the late-aughts, it wasn’t long before the Roaring Twenties craze hit its saturation point. That isn’t stopping Sam Nazarian’s SBE from ditching sparkly shirts and cheap cologne for vests, Barbasol, and suspenders. The hospitality empire is opening The Emerson Theatre in Hollywood next Wednesday, January 9, engineered to “channel the vintage glamour of [The] 1920’s” in the shuttered MyHouse space.
The expected velvet curtains, sweeping staircases, distressed hardwoods, and marquee lights are being set up by designer Mark Zeff, while the venue will keep the dream of the nineties alive through burlesque shows and an LED-lit DJ booths boosted above the dance floor.
The Emerson (which even sounds a little like The Edison) will obviously have a dedicated cocktail program, but still touts bottle-service as its driving force. Already tickling our ribs with the tagline “Hollywood’s Sexiest Scandal,” the club even has a newsreel teaser blending boobs and bad dub-step.
The Emerson Theatre, open Wednesday through Saturday at 7080 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood; 323-525-2453.
