The Lime Truck Opens TLT Food, Now Serving Westwood

TLT Food opened this morning in Westwood, and since it took us too many years to figure out that TLC stands for “T-Boz, Left Eye, and Chilli,” we’ll let you know straight from the get-go that this one stands for “The Lime Truck Food.” Yep, another truck gone brick-and-mortar and leaving the “Truck” in the name, as this is the restaurant version of Daniel Shemtob’s Great Food Truck Race-winning The Lime Truck, an Orange County mobile that stands apart from many of its peers.

While most food trucks specialize in specific national staples like dim sum, banh mi, or lobster rolls, The Lime Truck operates with more of a chef-driven, California “melting pot” concept behind the wheel. New flavors are introduced often and food is made from scratch, including eye-opening comfort twists and more delicate dishes like charred bok choy and crab ceviche. Riding this route, the four-wheeler has earned a following for plates of its carnitas fries, poke nachos, and pork belly BATs, also leading to a well-received restaurant from former chef and owner Jason Quinn in the form of Santa Ana’s Playground.

The new TLT Food is firmly entrenched in Bruin country, taking a small pace in Westwood with a seasonal selection of rotating beers and an affordable selection of wines, as guests are only charged for corking, the restaurant promises. There’s also multiple flavors of limeade if you’re off the sauce.

The food menu is fairly thick with shareable options, including the pork belly BAT on a parmesan-crusted roll and pulled pork “carnitas” fries, both priced at nine-dollars each, plus seared “catch of the day” nachos, sambal wings, tacos, vegan plates,and ten-dollar steak frites.
