Next Saturday, November 17, The International Culinary School at the Art Institute of California in Santa Monica is hosting an awesome benefit for C-Cap, the culinary arts training program for our nation’s public high school students. Called “Getting Our Just Desserts,” $50 buys you access to 35 excellent pastry chefs, bakers, and confectioners, with sweet (and some savory) tastings from the likes of Spago’s Sherry Yard, BLD’s doughnut-visionary Mariah Swan, and Marcel Vigneron, plus chefs from Patina, Euro Pane, MB Post, A-Frame, Coolhaus, and Picca, among the many.

In addition to tastings, the event provides a “Just Desserts Challenge” with C-Cap grads, along with classes and demos lead by Duff Goldman, Evan Kleiman, and Charles Perry, plus a silent auction and book signings by celebrity authors.

Tickets are $50 online ($75 at the door) and $100 for VIP, which provides an extra hour, gift bag, and access to the cooking challenge.

Getting Our Just Desserts,” November 17, 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at 2900 31st St. Santa Monica.
