A partner of the now-closed Table 8 restaurant chain was arraigned in L.A. yesterday on charges he administered an abortion-inducing drug to his girlfriend during foreplay. Joshua Woodward is a former partner of celebrity chef Govind Armstong, who had brought the popular L.A.-based chain to the East Village in 2009. Armstrong closed Table 8 in New York in December of 2009, a month after police began investigating Woodward, whose thirteen weeks pregnant girlfriend, who had miscarried, reported to the authorities that “he was handling a plastic bag while also touching her.” Woodward was arrested for possession of misoprostol, a drug that can be used to terminate pregnancies. In court yesterday, Woodward pleaded not guilty to four counts of attempted murder. He is being held on $4 million bail, and if convicted, faces a possible life sentence. [NYDN, Earlier, Earlier]
