Calorie Counts Coming to Soda Vending Machines

Seizing a well-timed public relations strategy, or possibly just moving toward deluging consumers with a lot of information, an association of the major soda brands (including Coke and Pepsi) announced they will begin to post the calorie counts of drinks on vending machine buttons, the AP reports, along with slogans like “Calories Count: Check Then Choose.” The retrofitted machines will roll out in Chicago and San Antonio next year to start but eventually go national, which means they could make it to New York even before the soda ban starts.
