Popular farmers’ market rotisserie vendor Roli Roti celebrated their tenth anniversary over the weekend with a pop-up in back of Chez Panisse in Berkeley. Swiss-born founder Thomas Odermatt says he and Alice Waters got to be pals after so many farmers’ markets, and because of his commitment to sustainable street food. He tells KQED, “The way we came together is, she wanted to try my chicken, we met at the skateboard park in Berkeley — not that we skateboarded together — but, we tasted the chicken there, and since then we’ve kept in contact.” All proceeds from event went to the Edible Schoolyard, naturally, and much porchetta was consumed.
