Mast Brothers Opens New South Street Seaport Location

Williamsburg microchocolatier Mast Brothers has expanded to South Street Seaport, where the team has built a retail outpost in an adaptably reused nineteenth-century metals warehouse. With the help of another pair of abundantly bearded Brooklyn brothers — designers Evan and Oliver Haslegrave — Rick and Michael Mast have divided the premises into a shop selling books, pastries, and confections (including the new sea-salted South Street Seaport Museum bar) and an event space and culinary community center, accessed by its own entrance off the historic Cannon’s Walk. A newly installed kitchen can accommodate everything from pasta-making demos to the occasional wedding.
