Tom Peters has put together a pretty impressive lineup of rare and highly coveted beers for today’s Columbus Day edition of Mad Monday at Monk’s. This time around, proceeds from beers poured and the prize packages being raffled off will be donated to Sutter Breast Cancer Care Center in Santa Rosa, CA. It’s the charity of choice for Natalie and Vinnie Cilurzo, the team behind Sonoma County’s cult brewery Russian River. And that brings us to the next point: The Pliny the Elder/Younger makers have ponied up nine barrels of their highly sought after beers, including two vintages of its Supplication American wild ale, plus another brew that’s making its East Coast debut. The fun kicks off at 11:30 a.m., and raffle tickets and rare beers are cash only. Monk’s hopes to raise $10,000. Keep reading for the full tap list.
Russian River beers on tap today include the following:
Sanctification Supplication 2011 Supplication 2012
Pliny the Elder
In addition to those beers, Monk’s will also tap Russain River’s Framboise For A Cure. It’s the third in a series of of once-a-year framboise style ales brewed specifically to help raise money for breast cancer care and counseling. The brewery’s Temptation ale is the beer’s base, but it underwent oak aging, and was refermented with wild yeast and locally sourced raspberries. Drafts of it will go for $10.
Along with the special brew, Monk’s also secured 24 bottles of Russian River’s seldom seen Toronado 25th Anniversary, a blend of six different beers, including strong pale ale, strong dark ale, pale ale with currants, blonde ale, baltic porter, and Sonambic, a spontaneously fermented beer. Bottles will be available $50 a piece, and must be consumed on premises.
To generate more cash for today’s charity, Monk’s will also raffle off a series of generous packages of rare, one-of-a-kind, and unusual beer. Raffle tickets are $10. Only 100 tickets for each package will be sold. Like the special beers on offer, raffle tickets are cash only too. Details on the packages follow.
