Joshua Woodward, the former partner in Govind Armstrong’s Table 8 empire and L.A.’s 8 Oz. Burger who was accused of forcing his girlfriend to miscarry, was absent from the headlines for nearly three years after his release from police custody following 48 hours after his arrest for the murder of an unborn child. But yesterday, Woodward turned himself into Los Angeles police after four new counts of attempted murder were charged against him. The L.A. Times reports that prosecutors are relying on new evidence to renew the charges against the 40-year-old restaurateur, originally spurred by a call from his girlfriend who claimed the accused had rubbed an unknown white powder on her without her knowledge or consent, causing the loss of the fetus. LAPD later caught Woodward red-handed grinding a powder in his apartment, later identifying it as the labor-inducing chemical misoprostol. Woodward’s lawyer claims, “Joshua had nothing to do with the loss of his girlfriend’s baby. And the evidence marshaled against him is so weak and speculative as to be nonexistent.”According to KTLA, Woodward could receive life in prison if convicted.
