Hirsch Sings the Praises of Café Asia at the Asian Art Museum

“Compared to Little Saigon’s grittier lunch spots, Café Asia might seem downright regal,” writes Jess Hirsch. “And compared to other museum cafes, the food might seem downright revolutionary.” This week he devotes his column to the never discussed cafeteria/café at the Asian Art Museum, and he says that dishes like the gochujang pork shoulder and pan-seared catfish filet elevate this place way beyond most of the country’s museum cafes. He notes that chef Melinda Quirino worked for years at the Hotel Nikko and may pander a bit to an older, less adventurous audience. But still, this is a good-to-know, swanky and clean lunch option if you’re ever stuck at Civic Center. [Examiner]
