Through November 1, Rustic Canyon pastry chef Laurel Almerinda is hand-making her own candy for a Halloween dessert platter, including a take on Twix, peanut butter cups, and a Mounds bar topped with fleur de sel, along with a caramel apple speckled with candied pumpkin seeds. The trick-or-treat platter joins other examples in the holiday genre, like the haunted dessert sampler that rises from the grave each October at Kerry Simon’s two local restaurants and Tim Goodell’s newly introduced offering at Public Kitchen that bears sweet stuff in the shape of body parts like finger cookies and eyeball cake pops. Catch them today and tomorrow, before it’s too late (muhahahaha, etc.).
