Michael Bryant, the talented former Palihouse, Norman’s, and Father’s Office chef, appears to have vacated West Hollywood’s Mirabelle, following his help in remaking this Sunset Strip old-timer into somewhere we’d actually eat at back in May. While the food was greatly improved, it didn’t appear that Mirabelle was drawing quite the same crowd or fervor as nearby neighbors like Eveleigh or cheesy rocker spot Red Rock. Perhaps to change said tune, the restaurant has hired one of the city’s premiere restaurant PR agencies and will formally appoint a new chef to the kitchen tomorrow. A news release announces the hire of L.A. local Drew Ison, formerly at Kristy’s Wood Oven in Malibu, The Mendocino Hotel, and The Reagan Library. Ison’s new menu includes lamb sausage bolognese, Kurobuta pork chops with brown butter spaetzle, cripsy-skinned salmon, and flaming saganaki. Presumably, Bryant is taking his seafood charcuterie elsewhere, though there’s currently no word on where that could be.
