Michael Recchiuti, of Recchiuti Confections, is readying a café operation in the Dogpatch called Chocolate Lab (801 22nd Street), which is set to open next month in the original Piccino location. He already has a little retail shop next door called Little Nib, which has been open since the summer, in addition to the Ferry Building shop, and Chocolate Lab will add to that mini-empire. The café will feature both sweet and savory stuff, including chocolate flights, ice cream floats, Cowgirl Creamery cheeses, Fatted Calf charcuterie, and savory tartines. Also there will be wine and beer featuring stuff from nearby Dig Wines, Speakeasy Brewing Co., and Magnolia. [Chron]
