The chef Andrew Carmellini’s mezzanine lounge at the Public Theater is set to open next Tuesday, and the Local East Village has the opening food, wine, and cocktail menus. Contributing talent includes Michael Olivier, who cooked for Carmellini at Cafe Boulud and Locanda Verde. Starters include a kale salad with Vermont cheddar and a span of crowd pleasers like fried calamari, chicken-fried chicken wings, and fennel-glazed St. Louis ribs. Josh Nadel will direct wine service, and Tiffany Short has devised eight cocktails, including the hearty sounding Ode to Loggerhead, made of Blackwell rum, house Falernum, Belgian ale, and egg.
