This is a shocker, as there was certainly nothing of it in the meat industry tributes from which we took this morning’s report, but the death of Allen Brothers chairman Bobby Hatoff is being investigated as a suicide. Hatoff, who was 69, was found outside the company’s Halsted street headquarters Sunday night with a single gunshot wound to the chest. [Crain’s]
And Karyn’s Raw Bistro at 1901 N. Halsted suffered a fire Monday night which led to it being closed. There’s no word as yet on reopening. No one was injured, so it is just barely possible to start making jokes about how a raw restaurant burns. [Eater]
