The Chronicle just unveiled their Bargain Bites compendium for 2012, and it’s a well curated list of 144 restaurants, delis, and holes in the wall throughout the bay area where one can theoretically get dinner for under $10. The list is bizarrely low on S.F. taquerias, which are apparently not as worthy of inclusion as the ever salty (literally and figuratively) Tommy’s Joynt, or the ultra retro Chick N Coop in the Excelsior. But new to the list this year are some recently opened gems like Pig & Pie, Wing Wings, CatHead’s BBQ, and Chubby Noodle. [Chron]
