Vincent Price Dinners Come Back From the Grave Next Monday

Remember Chris Garlington, the author (The Beat Cop’s Guide to Chicago Eats) turned middle-aged chef wannabe with the dream of cooking from Vincent Price’s cookbook? (Yes, that Vincent Price— find out more about it all here and here.) The one whose goal, as he put it, was to learn “how not to be a douche about cooking.” Anyway, his mentor Efrain Cuevas has relocated to California, but he’s flying solo now, and after a summer hiatus his Vincent Price dinners are gearing up just in time for Halloween. The next one will be next Monday, September 10, at an undisclosed location in Chicago; it’s $55, BYO, and as Garlington points out on the ticket page:

Please bear in mind this important caveat: this dinner is an experiment in wish fulfillment by an author—not a chef. There is a very real chance the dinner will go flying off the rails ending in a spectacular fireball, terror, and screaming. That’s part of the gamble of eating in underground supper clubs.
