Trader Joe’s Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter is most likely the source of a salmonella outbreak that has sickened 29 people in eighteen states, and the FDA announced on Saturday the grocery store chain has voluntarily recalled the product from its shelves. Outbreak incidents were reported from June 11 and September 2, and no one has died as a result of infection. “We have not confirmed information that suggests this peanut butter is unsafe to eat,” wrote Trader Joe’s in a statement, “but there is nothing more important to us than the health and safety of our customers and crew, and the quality of our products. As such, if you purchased this product, please do not eat it.” If you happen to have any Salted Valencia lying around, bring it back for a full refund. [AP/NPR]
