It’s a takeout takedown! Inspectors shuttered Star Island Restaurant at 375 Blue Hill Ave. after discovering foul kitchen conditions and a basement full of rats. Yummy!

According to reports, the restaurant’s basement was filled with trash, insects, and rodents. Mayor Menino has ordered rat traps to be placed there and elsewhere in the neighborhood, which people say is rife with rats and rat burrows. Inspectors also said that a kitchen vent was pouring grease, calling the place “filthy” and “disgusting.” Don’t worry, though: The restaurant should reopen in a week or so!
