If you’ve dined at the places you should have been dining at the last few years, you’ve heard or seen the name “Slagel,” as in Slagel Family Farm, an important supplier of naturally-raised meats for Chicago restaurants. (Paul Kahan talks about them in this video.) Each year they also put on a number of farm dinners with area chefs, and they’ve got an especially intriguing one coming up in less than two weeks, featuring Dean Zanella (formerly of Rhapsody), Chef Matt Troost of Three Aces, Chef Zak Dolezal of Dukes Alehouse and Kitchen, Chef John Asbaty of Panozzo’s, Chef David Digregorio of Osteria via Stato and Chef Heather Terhune of Sable Kitchen. It runs from around 2:30 in the afternoon until 9 p.m.; it’s $75 for adults (kids under 15 free) which gets you dinner at chef stations plus a farm tour. The farm is about two hours southwest of Chicago, in Fairbury. Go here to order tickets.
